About the Opportunity

AH&MRC has a unique and exciting opportunity for a hands-on Chief Executive Officer (Indigenous Identified) to join their team based in Sydney. While initially this position will be based in Surry Hills, they are expected to relocate offices to Little Bay within the coming months.

Working together with the Board of Directors, AH&MRC's personnel and funding bodies, your focus in this role will be implementing strategic and operational policy and ensuring the continued growth and viability of the organisation.

While managing the day-to-day operations of all business units, you will also be required to:

  • Develop the organisation's services to members and identifying membership program strategies and providing these to the Board;
  • Maintain and foster communication systems with all stakeholders throughout AH&MRC;
  • Implement, review and update policies and procedures within the identified areas for compliance;
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with external bodies and represent AH&MRC on committees and other public forums;
  • Promote ACCHSs as the preferred model for the delivery of comprehensive culturally appropriate primary health care to the Aboriginal community;
  • Plan and manage financial, physical and human resources to ensure that the strategic objectives of the organisation are met and risks are identified and minimised; and
  • Lead, support and develop the management team including performance planning, training and development.

Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander is essential to this position and is a genuine occupational requirement under Part 22, section 22.9 of the AH&MRC Constitution and racial discrimination is prohibited as outlined under Section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.

About the Benefits

AH&MRC is offering the successful candidates an attractive salary circa $180,000 - $220,000 (negotiable with skills and experience) plus super and a company vehicle.

As a community health organisation, AH&MRC can also offer you $16,000 of your income salary packaged per annum. This figure is FBT exempt and no tax is payable on this amount, considerably increasing your take-home pay.

Relocation assistance may also be considered for the right candidate if required.

About the Organisation

The Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of New South Wales (AH&MRC) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) in NSW and has around 50 member services throughout the state.

The AH&MRC is committed to supporting member services across NSW to ensure accessibility to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce who provide high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

The AH&MRC works in association with its member organisations on a range of initiatives to promote Aboriginal health and well-being in NSW, through strengthened ACCHS leadership and involvement in:
