The Organisation

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a representative body promoting Aboriginal rights and provides a number of services for the benefit of traditional owners and other Aboriginal residents of the CLC region.

It carries out its statutory functions across the southern half of the NT – some 780,000 square kilometres. Its members belong to more than 15 language groups. It has main office and two further offices in Alice Springs and there are 14 regional CLC offices, including ranger group offices.

The Staff

More than 260 people work at the CLC with 50% being Indigenous. The CLC's employees include from local Aboriginal people with expert traditional knowledge to lawyers, anthropologists, geologists, accountants, information professionals and trades people.

As a Commonwealth Government statutory authority, equipped with modern technology and facilities, Land Management is recruiting now for a:

  • CL 5 - CL 6 (Commencing $69,070 - $85,695)

Based in Alice Springs, this position is required to assist Aboriginal people to carry out sustainable pastoral activities on their land through the provision of planning, development and management support in designated CLC sub-regions.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or competency certificates in rural science, rural business development or related disciplines, preferably with extensive practical experience in the pastoral industry.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an aptitude for active community engagement in a relevant context.
  • Proven capacity for budgeting and accurate record keeping of expenditure and related outcomes.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options (CLC is a PBI for income tax purposes). Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
