CareerTrackers is a national not-for-profit organisation that creates internship and private sector employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students. We are a fast-paced, innovative organisation, leading in the area of professional Indigenous employment. We currently work with 1,354 students, 37 universities and 108 corporate partners nationally. 

Our goal is to increase the representation of Indigenous Australians in professional private sector employment. And we absolutely see this in the results we help to achieve:

  • 89% of our interns graduate university compared with 47% of students outside the program
  • 95% of CareerTrackers Alumni are in full time employment within 3 months of graduating and on average earn a higher salary than their graduate peers.

The Program Manager Position

The Program Manager will have the responsibility to lead a passionate team of 11 Student Advisors based in Sydney to ensure high quality and a never ending focus on developing future leaders. Someone with a track record of achievement working through complex issues in a high pace environment. There must be testimony of you not being afraid to take on major challenges, not being afraid to fail, a deep down humility to acknowledge mistakes and the ability to constantly ask for help.

The main responsibilities of a Program Manager is to:

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of Intern Advisors. Core to this role is leading and developing our people, ensuring operational and team effectiveness and driving the consistent delivery of our NSW/ACT program. 
  • Implement, manage, supervise and evaluate all activities of the program in accordance with national standards, enhancing our operational efficiency while building upon our culture of excellence.
  • Provide coaching and consistent performance feedback to staff members to foster their career growth.
  • You will also be responsible for managing strategic connections and engaging a network of corporate, community and academic leaders across NSW/ACT. 
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the program by providing feedback and suggestions with respect to future program enhancements.
