This start up not-for-profit company and membership body has been in place since 2009. Going from strength to strength they are now looking to grow the team to support this demand. Funded by the Government their aim is to assist in developing a sustainable, vibrant and prosperous Indigenous enterprise sector here in Australia.
Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, the position of Membership Assessor will focus on effectively engaging with Indigenous businesses to promote and process applications for the organisation’s certification program. This is an internationally recognised certification. The Membership Assessor is accountable for ensuring the growth of Australian Indigenous-owned businesses database and ensuring that the certification program maintains its high standard of integrity and authenticity.
This position will involve visits to businesses across Australia so flexibility is essential. The core business team is small but growing and the culture within the organisation is open, collaborative and hard working.
Responsibilities for the Membership Assessor / Certification Specialist:
- Managing all aspects of certification;
- Receiving & reviewing applications
- Preparing board reports for approval of rejection of certification
- On-boarding newly certified businesses
- Promote the organisation’s certification program amongst the Indigenous business community.
- Conducting site visits nationally including random audits of company ownership, management and control arrangements
Your attributes and experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies, cultures and issues affecting Indigenous Australians in business
- Preferable experience working in Indigenous communities
- An investigative mind that doesn’t take information at face value & have no hesitation asking difficult questions.
- High level communication, analytical and liaison skills
- Positive approach to client service
- Ability to critically assesses information against a set standard
- Process driven with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence
- A current driving license is essential
- Flexibility to travel interstate regularly
