About the Role

We seek two Work for the Dole (WFD) Supervisors to oversee a team of participants in WFD activities. The Work for the Dole Supervisor will train, guide and mentor participants, teaching them the necessary skills required to do general maintenance work including carpentry and wood work, landscaping and gardening, and general handy work.

Participants are generally long term unemployed, so as well as the hands on skills, building self-esteem, confidence, teamwork and people skills are equally important.

You will have strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and the ability to supervise a diverse range of people from various backgrounds including CALD participants. The supervisor should understand the contractual requirements of WFD programs and will encourage and promote job search activities to participants

The positions are being offered on a part-time basis for an initial period of 6 months.

What we're looking for

  • Current first aid certificate or willingness to obtain;
  • Experience in training adults and motivating/supporting a diverse cohort;
  • Experience managing WHS systems and processes in a work setting;
  • Ability to work with culturally or linguistically diverse, Indigenous clients, ex-offenders, youth and disadvantaged groups;
  • An ability to use email, basic data entry and provide reports on attendance, behaviour and incidents on site; and
  • Flexibility and the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
