Australian Community Philanthropy (ACP) is the peak membership organisation for community foundations in Australia. ACP exists to connect, support and represent the community foundation movement and to strengthen its resources, capacity and impact. Collectively, Australia’s 38 community foundations:

  • Have presence in over 80% of Australian LGAs
  • Hold more than $310 million in funds under management
  • Grant at least $21 million annually within their communities
  • Support hundreds of charitable grass roots projects and initiatives through their granting and community strengthening programs

Founded in 2008 by a group of community foundation practitioners, ACP represents and supports voluntary boards and professional staff of new and established community foundations across Australia. ACP is a registered charity and has a donation account with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.

The Executive Officer leads the day-to-day activity of the Australian Community Philanthropy and together with the Board of Directors ensures that the vision, mission and values are upheld and objectives and goals of the organisation are progressed.

This key leadership role is responsible for: 

  • Leading implementation of strategic activity
  • Building relationships with community foundations, donors, applicants, recipients, key bodies, government, community groups, sponsors, other philanthropic bodies and businesses to demonstrate value of community philanthropy;
  • Broadening Australian Community Philanthropy’s reach by increasing membership base and by coordinating and initiating promotional activities that support member sustainability;
  • Ensuring operational excellence of professional corporate governance, financial management and administration practices; and
  • Articulating the value of community philanthropy, the role Australian Community Philanthropy, and impact of community foundations in strengthening local life through marketing and communication activities.

The Board seeks applications from experienced people who can take support and leadership ACP to the next stage of delivery for members, and also lead strengthening engagement of community foundations in the wider philanthropic sector in Australia. The Australian Community Philanthropy office is in the Melbourne CBD, however the Board may negotiate with the appointee regarding flexible work arrangements.
