The Role – What we are looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Support Practitioner/Counsellor to work within a multi-disciplinary team of experienced Allied Health Practitioners including; Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Behaviour Specialists in the Western Sydney region.

You will use your knowledge and experience to provide evidence and behaviour based supports to people in different environments, including; within the home, programs, schools and workplaces. You will be working together with individuals to provide support for goals, such as those related to increasing independence, building relationships and developing overall well-being (including mental-health).

You will also be providing clinical support to support staff such as Support Workers where needed, and will be able to work closely with others to ensure the individuals we support are empowered to reach their goals.

This role will focus on the the areas surrounding Seven Hills, Mt Druitt and Penrith, with some travel to other locations as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration with appropriate registering body g. RCAA, AHPRA etc.
  • Specialist knowledge of disability services.
  • Extensive knowledge of best practice Behaviour Management Policies and procedures, including restricted practices framework, or a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Keep Them Safe guidelines and mandatory reporting requirements.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of capacity testing across the lifespan, or a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014, National Disability Insurance Scheme and current reform in the disability sector.
  • A current NSW driver’s licence.
