In 2016, the provincial government office led tourism stakeholders in holding a three-day workshop, supported by the Department of Trade and Industry and GIZ (Germany), to come up with an action plan to make the tourism value chain “greener”. At the end of 2018, the office convened a follow-up meeting to review how this action plan has been implemented and what more needs to be done. It is hoped that the volunteer can contribute to improving this plan.

This assignment will require the volunteer to engage with stakeholders throughout the island. At the same time, the volunteer will also help develop tourism packages for three priority sites, tentatively identified as: San Enrique, Victorias City and Calatrava.

You'll be identifying improvements based on the action plan for “Greening the Tourism Value Chain of the Province of Negros Occidental”, supporting the provincial tourism division in conducting an audit of tourism-related establishments with regards to the adoption of green/sustainable practices and supporting the tourism departments of the three city/municipal LGUs (San Enrique, Victorias City and Calatrava) in developing their sustainable tourism products and services.

You'll have a degree or equivalent experience in tourism, business development, and marketing and experience in tourism industry operations, particularly in eco-tourism or nature-based tourism.

You'll gain experience in the beautiful city of Bacolod. The city is known as the City of Smiles and is notable for the annual MassKara Festival, held during the third week of October. The province also takes great pride in its crafts and local cuisine.

A position description is attached.
