Sub-Forest Science Institute of Vietnam (Sub-FSIV in HCMC) is responsible for forest research in South Vietnam. This includes 12 provinces in the Mekong Delta. Sub-FSIV has 5 field stations in the Mekong Delta including a mangrove research centre in Ca Mau Province. Research on the silviculture of melaleuca, acacia and eucalyptus is also conducted in other field stations.
Sub FSIV has a strong team of experts but they can greatly benefit from the inputs of a forester interested in silviculture and ecology. The position will also give Sub FSIV staff the chance to work closely with the CCCEP Projects (Climate Change program funded by AusAID and GIZ and implemented in 5 provinces in the Mekong Delta).
To contribute successfully in this role, you will need to have a Masters or above Forestry qualification, and great flexibility, and also including:
- Demonstrated success in silviculture research
- Proven track record working with a forestry organisation preferably conducting forestry research on mangrove tree species
- Willing and able to travel and work in a remote province, including trips in small canoe-size boats
- Good intercultural and personal skills
- Good writing skills
