  • Employer: Solo Enviro Beautification
  • Location: Honiara, Solomon Islands

Beginning in 1998, Solo Enviro Beautification (SEB) was founded by a group of dedicated volunteers and long term residents to reclaim the identity of  Honiara as the ‘prettiest town in the Pacific’.  The combining influence of years of racial tension, the widening of the main road and rapidly increasing population has had a major impact on the city landscape.

In order to protect the environment for future generations SEB is seeking a volunteer who can assist existing management in the organisation; work with its trainer to introduce higher levels of advanced horticulture and landscape curriculum into the training program (teaching the Tafe QLD curriculum); and assist the development of the commercial nursery.

It's a great opportunity to take your qualifications in horticulture and landscape work with skills in Urban development, training skills in this, preferably experience in management of small nurseries and a knowledge of tropical plants and agriculture.

Essential personal qualities include an ability to cope with cultural isolation and a different standard of living.

This two year assignment is based in the capital of Solomon Islands, Honiara.
