The Hotham Mission Asylum Seeker Project (ASP) is a UnitingCare agency (and a project of Hotham Mission) that works with people seeking asylum. We are a dedicated team providing practical assistance and advocacy for asylum seekers.
We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Caseworker - Adult Community Detention. The Senior Caseworker will work within the Community Detention Program providing provide high quality casework practices, program delivery and reporting as part of the agency response to people seeking asylum.
You will use your expertise to:
- work within our Community Detention casework teams
- provide holistic casework support to people seeking asylum either within the parameters of the Community Detention Operational Framework or the ASP Operational Policy
- manage a caseload of people from non-English speaking backgrounds, who may have experienced torture and trauma
- assist clients to navigate the immigration process, while providing emotional support
- work within the ASP strengths-based practice framework.
We have a number of positions available for case work practitioners. Knowledge of asylum seeker issues is essential; experience preferred.
SACS Vic Award payments, commensurate with experience.
