ARAFEMI has over 30 years demonstrated experience in the delivery of peer support and broad based information and support services. We are acknowledged as a leader in peer support in mental health and currently operate peer support services, provide professional development and training in peer support models (for family carers) and advocate and facilitate discussion about peer support within broader mental health structures.
This project role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a new Centre for Excellence in Peer Support based in ARAFEMI's Hawthorn office. The worker will provide a first point of call for information, advice, linkage and support on peer-mentor models to the non-profit mental health sector. This position will also build service quality and sector capacity to deliver peer based mental health support.
Selection Criteria
Candidates are asked to reply to each of the following criteria. Candidates should outline their relevant experience at a senior level, using examples to illustrate their experience.
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications in management, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, community development, or other related fields, and / or extensive experience
- Demonstrated understanding and belief in recovery orientated practice
- Demonstrated advanced understanding of the mental health system, its components, roles and relationship between the clinical services and the PDRSS sectors and peer workforce
- Demonstrated research and evaluation skills
- Demonstrated understanding of peer support models
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and to support and network with a diverse range of people and organizations
- Experience in training and development, mentorship models and group facilitation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High level computer skills, including experience with content management systems,
- Current driver’s license
