A Gender Agenda (AGA) is a peer-based community organisation in the ACT that works within a human rights framework. We work with, and advocate for, intersex, transgender and gender diverse people. We also welcome friends, families and allies as part of our community. AGA was incorporated in 2005 and receives funding support from the ACT Government.
AGA works at an individual, community and systemic level to remove discrimination, improve access to services and increase recognition of the needs of the intersex, transgender and gender diverse communities. AGA provides a safe space for social support and community connection via coordinating 40-50 community events/activities per year. We also: respond to many enquiries from the public; develop and distribute information and resources; conduct health promotion campaigns; undertake public awareness initiatives; provide policy advice and advocate for law reform.
AGA is a family-friendly workplace. For the right candidate there is the capacity to be flexible around work hours. Work days are negotiable and some remote working may be possible.
About the Position:
AGA believes that one of the key ways to bring about change is via policy reform, education and training. This exciting new senior role provides an opportunity to use your highly developed policy and training skills, creative flair and leadership capacity to develop the policy, education and training arm of AGA.
There is increasing demand to provide evidence based, professionally delivered education, training and advice tailored to a range of mainstream and specialist organisations across the government, education, community and private sector. AGA has a strong record and high level of credibility in delivering professional training, and there is an opportunity to shape and enhance the current education and training that AGA delivers. In addition, AGA is uniquely placed in providing policy advice, community education and awareness programs on the issues facing the intersex, transgender and gender diverse community in a manner that is directly linked to our community’s experience.
