The Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) is the community services peak body and the national voice of people affected by poverty and inequality.

Working in close consultation with senior stakeholders and government, you will be integral to promoting the organisation’s activities and positions through media, campaigns and advocacy. You will drive and implement media and communications strategies, edit and produce written materials for the organisation and lead on public education and engagement campaigns.

You will possess the ability to proactively identify and manage issues which may impact on the organisation and its ability to meet its objectives. You will be a first point of contact for media enquiries, and will be required to research and recommend appropriate response strategies. You will have the ability to edit, review and publish the organisation’s publications. In addition, you will coordinate the organisation’s public education and engagement with supporters (both organisations and individuals) through the production of campaign activities.

Success in this role will require excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to rapidly assess and recommend workable solutions. You will be adept at handling numerous concurrent issues while managing multiple stakeholders. With a background in communications, campaigning or journalism, you will have ideally gained experience in a similar role within the community and welfare sector or non profit sector.
