The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Engagement Officer - Overnight Coordinator to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting clients accessing services at Ozanam House. The Overnight Coordinator will provide direct assistance to clients, manage challenging behaviours, facilitate activities, and ensure client safety through assertive engagement. This role requires a compassionate individual with a strong commitment to social justice and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct service delivery and support to clients accessing Ozanam House services.
  • Assist with the intake and induction processes for clients entering crisis accommodation.
  • Provide direction and support to Safety Officers on shift.
  • Undertake risk assessments and develop response plans to ensure client safety.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Document and deliver shift handovers in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with emergency services when necessary.
  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks to maintain the smooth functioning of Ozanam House.
  • Support clients in understanding and exercising their rights and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with other staff and community agencies to provide holistic support to clients.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation of service delivery and outcomes.
  • Undertake relevant professional development activities to maintain knowledge of relevant policies and regulations.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor's Degree required).
  • Direct service delivery experience in homelessness or related sectors.
  • Ability to effectively engage with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Commitment to social justice and promoting client empowerment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends, public holidays and shifts include from 11pm to 8.00am.
