About the 30x30 Campaign 

30x30 represents a global commitment to conserve 30% of the Earth's lands and seas by 2030, a crucial effort to safeguard nature and ensure a sustainable future. Within this worldwide endeavor, the Australian 30x30 campaign stands out as a coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) dedicated to ensuring the Australian Government meets its 30x30 commitments in a way that benefits the entire nation. 

This coalition brings together influential organisations such as the Conservation Council of South Australia, Queensland Conservation Council, Nature Conservation Council of NSW, Environment Centre Northern Territory, Cairns and Far North Queensland Environment Centre and The Pew Charitable Trustswith the aim to advocate effectively for the unique challenges and opportunities that come with implementing the 30x30 targets in Australia.

The campaign’s efforts are directed towards two main objectives: advocacy to increase public awareness and support for the 30x30 goals and influencing policymakers to develop, implement, and fund effective strategies for the long-term realisation of 30x30 commitments.

The role

The National Campaign Coordinator for the 30x30 Campaign will play a central role in coordinating the campaign's nationwide efforts to ensure that 30% of Australia's lands are conserved by 2030. Reporting to the 30x30 Nation Campaign Manager, this role is crucial in facilitating the execution of the campaign's strategy, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and supporting the campaign's objectives.

The National Campaign Coordinator will work closely with a broad coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), environmental groups, policymakers, and community leaders to mobilise support and drive actions aligned with the campaign's conservation goals.

Responsibilities  

  1. Develop and implement online communications and supporter acquisition and engagement plans in consultation with other team members.
  2. Produce, distribute and promote campaign materials in consultation with other team members and campaign partners.
  3. Generate, manage and promote content across digital platforms including campaign website andsocial media in consultation with other team members.
  4. Manage contractors within defined budgets.
  5. Coordinate community outreach work including building relationships with relevant community leaders and individuals, community media outlets, and other opportunities for personal engagement.
  6. Organise community events and information stalls in target areas to help engage supporters and promote campaign key messages.
  7. Organise volunteer recruitment and management.
  8. Assist with the development of campaign strategy and the coordination of regular engagement between campaign team members across the partner organisations.
  9. Support lobbying and negotiations with stakeholders and political decision makers. 

Selection Criteria 

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining relevant partnerships across a broad spectrum of organisations and individuals;
  • Capacity to communicate with influence, particularly within a collaborative context;
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with government and key stakeholders for specified outcomes within tight time-frames;
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and leading on initiatives/projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage events, preferably for not-for-profit organisations;
  • Demonstrated communications, media/PR experience; demonstrated ability to stay on message;
  • Demonstrated experience in administration, meeting coordination and reporting.
  • Experience in advocacy with the Federal Government would be highly regarded. 

What we are offering 

This is a full-time contract position, requiring a current Australian Business Number. 

  • A contract will be offered for an initial 4 months and it is envisioned a further longer contract will be offered contingent on campaign requirements and funding.
  • Dependent on experience, the daily rate offered will be between $82- $90K per annum pro rata plus Superannuation at the legislated contribution rate.
