EWON is the industry-based Ombudsman scheme which provides all NSW energy and some water customers with independent, free, informal dispute resolution services. We work towards achieving fair and reasonable complaint outcomes for all parties, provide leading customer service and influence energy and water public policy. EWON is not a consumer or industry advocate. Our Purpose is to provide high quality, independent advice, information and dispute resolution to NSW energy and water consumers.

The Role

As the Head of People, Culture & Capability (PC&C), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our organisational culture, developing talent, and developing a PC&C strategy that aligns with our strategic objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape our workforce and culture to foster a high-performing and adaptive environment.

You will strategically lead and engage a team to oversee the full spectrum of PC&C functions, from the creation and execution of innovative PC&C strategies that align with organisational goals to the enhancement of workplace diversity and strengthening of workforce capabilities. This role demands a visionary approach to developing and implementing robust PC&C initiatives that improve culture, employee engagement, and compliance, while also fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and high-performing work environment. This role is part of the Leadership Team and reports to the General Manager, Finance and Corporate Services.

Day to day responsibilities will include the following:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a People, Culture, and Capability (PC&C) strategy that aligns with the organisational purpose and goals.
  • Team Leadership: Actively lead, mentor and develop the People, Culture & Capability team by setting clear goals, providing ongoing feedback, and encouraging a collaborative team environment that aligns with EWON's values and strategic direction.
  • Culture and Engagement: Champion a vibrant organisational culture that promotes inclusivity and employee well-being, managing programs across remuneration, benefits, and workplace health, safety and wellbeing and employee engagement.
  • Organisational Development: Design and implement innovative talent management and capability development programs and workforce strategies that ensure the team is equipped to meet current and future challenges.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all PC&C operations ensuring compliance with legal standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in our practices.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Identify and create reporting on key analytics to drive strategies and improvements, ensuring PC&C initiatives are aligned with business needs and employee satisfaction.
  • Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging: Lead and promote initiatives that build a diverse and inclusive work environment, including actively contributing to the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan.

About You

You are able to lead and influence across all levels, create and set strategy and if required be able to drop back into the day-to-day operational areas to ensure consistent provision of effective PC&C services to the organisation, aligned with our purpose.

Key skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role within PC&C, with a proven track record of success across the full range of people and culture management.
  • Ability to develop strategic PC&C initiatives that integrate with overall organisational objectives.
  • Skilled in conceptualising and implementing innovative PC&C solutions that have a tangible impact.
  • A strong track record of initiating and sustaining capability uplift programs that cultivate an environment of teamwork and innovative thought, ensuring EWON is well-prepared for emerging challenges.
  • Competent in using key metrics to drive decision-making and improve outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • A relevant degree in HR, Business, or related field.
  • Certifications in psychometric assessments, coaching, or change management would be well regarded.
