What you are responsible for:

Joining our team, you'll be responsible for providing general and administrative duties as well as answering the phones and greeting customers and visitors to our organisation. You'll be assisting with organising meetings and diary management; sorting and distributing the post and updating our databases. As directed, provide information and resources to Community regarding Burrun Dalai OOHC/PSP and Foster Care. In addition, you'll be undertaking routine financial processes and help with other duties as directed.

What you will need:

  • To have good and accurate literacy, numeracy and administrative skills and the ability to analyse information to solve general queries. You'll also need good keyboard skills.
  • As you'll be managing a variety of relationships with different stakeholders, it's important you have good communication skills and can work on your own initiative.
  • Good planning and organising skills are key for this role and you should be used to working under pressure to meet deadlines allowing flexibility and resilience.
  • Ability to organise and follow daily work schedule.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  1. Aboriginality.
  2. Ability to organise and follow daily work schedule.
  3. Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain accurate records of incoming phone messages and disseminate them to appropriate workers as soon as possible via email.
  4. Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills.
  5. Demonstrated capacities to collect, record, distribute and respond to incoming mail and record and dispatch outgoing mail where appropriate in a timely fashion.
  6. Have the appropriate typing and computer skills to collate and dispatch documents for bulk mailing e.g., Newsletter, Events etc.
  7. Proven ability to develop a directory of filing system(s) and maintain accurate filing system(s) and file appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  8. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, Ethical Practices, and continuous quality improvement.

Desirable

  1. Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
  2. Previous experience working in an Aboriginal Corporation.
  3. Understanding of the role of the Office of Children’s Guardian and Out of Home Care Standards and Child Safe Organisations.
