About the Student Experience Directorate:

The Student Experience Directorate delivers a world-class student experience by creating engaging environments in which students form strong connections with their peers and develop a deep sense of belonging to the vibrant ACU community. The Directorate is aligned to the student journey from an academic, support services and a social perspective, integrating the contact points between the student and the university services, programs and activities students can access throughout their study.

About the role:

The National Manager, Safeguarding and Student Safety is the university's lead in safeguarding and student safety responsible for leading and overseeing the ongoing improvement and delivery of ACU safeguarding and student safety strategy and function. You will develop, implement, review and report on university- wide Action Plans to ensure the university's compliance with legislative requirements.

Additionally, you will develop, deliver and evaluate programs, resources and initiatives aimed at preventing gender-based violence as well as responding to and promoting the reporting of sexual assault, sexual harassment, child abuse, family and domestic violence and other unwanted or unwelcome behaviours. The incumbent will also deliver educational programs and manage and coordinate case management support following student disclosures.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Provide expert advice and support on safeguarding and student safety matters to university managers and lead the development and implementation of safeguarding and student safety training for ACU staff and students.
  • Develop and implement prevention strategies to increase awareness of sexual assault, sexual harassment, family and domestic violence and gender-based violence to promote student safety and raise the visibility of support services for students.
  • Receive and manage student disclosures and reports of sexual assault, sexual harassment, child abuse, family and domestic violence and any other serious or complex support needs.
  • Prepare reports of incidents and trends for consideration by university management committees and governance boards.
  • Lead and support ACU's Safety Support Network across campuses to assist and support students who have experienced sexual harm.

What we offer:

  • Total remuneration valued to $151,211 - $161,352 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $127,838 - $136,506 (pro rata) pa (HEW 9), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff.
  • Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
