The Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge (TCWR) is a not-for-profit, specialist non-government organisation committed to assisting and enabling women and children experiencing domestic and family violence in Tennant Creek and the Barkly to be safe, recover and thrive.
The Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge was incorporated on 26 April 1989 and continues to provide the necessary services and supports 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day to meet its vision: that all women and children in the Barkly Region live free from domestic and family violence and its consequences
The emphasis of TCWR and its programs is on early intervention, prevention, education and/or referral where necessary. TCWR provides support and crisis accommodation to all women and accompanying children who are at risk of or affected by domestic, family or sexual violence. A fit-for-purpose eight bed crisis accommodation sustains the 24/7 service. Other programs include counselling and community education, critical intervention and outreach support services (including to Ali Curung and Elliott). Referrals to the service can be made from the critical outreach team, women may self-refer, or referrals may come from external agencies including NT Police.
As the Service Coordinator (reporting to the General Manager), you'll lead the day-to-day operations of the TCWR across its three main programs, managing the residential facility, outreach service and counselling services.
You’ll focus on managing all aspects of effective service delivery and holistic wrap-around support for clients; and maintaining cooperative relationships with other local and regional community and family services to achieve seamless service delivery.
Your capacity to manage, provide practice support and supervision for a cross-cultural local workforce of around ten is critical, including delegating work effectively and setting clear expectations to understand their duties and build their confidence.
Managing program assets and expenditure within budgets is also important; and program monitoring, data collection and reporting will help improve our programs.
To succeed in this role, you’ll have a proven track record as a Program or Service Coordinator within the domestic and family violence (DFV) sector. Ideally, this will include managing a residential accommodation facility and experience working with Aboriginal women and their families.
Strong organisational and administrative abilities are essential; and your supportive leadership style will enable you to supervise and develop a diverse team of program staff.
You’ll have a sound understanding of the DFV context (legislation, policies and community resources), and if you’re new to Tennant Creek, you’ll be able to quickly build relationships and local knowledge.
Due to the nature of the role, only female applicants are eligible. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
This challenging and rewarding role is an opportunity to make a real contribution, putting your passion, commitment and practical capabilities to work.
A package circa $120,000 includes base salary (Level 6 of the SCHAADS award), six weeks annual leave, leave loading, superannuation and salary sacrifice arrangements. In addition, accommodation / rental support and relocation assistance may be negotiated depending on the circumstances of the successful candidate.
Join us in creating a positive work environment and making a difference in our team's growth and success.
