The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is the peak body representing, advocating, and supporting Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child protection and family support sector.

By sharing our collective knowledge and experience, we can all make a positive impact on policies and practices to stop the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Queensland’s child protection and youth justice systems.

About the role

The Communication & Marketing Lead will support the communications, design, sponsorship and events functions of QATSICPP.

This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of communication and marketing strategies, ideally in the not for profit / community-controlled sector.

The Lead will have a proven understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, actively engaging with, and fostering strong connections to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This includes experience with not-for-profit organisations, Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations (ACCOs), or involvement in the service delivery of initiatives aimed at enhancing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Lead will manage a small diverse team focused on planning and executing communication projects, campaigns and events, as well as our internal and external branding and design elements. 

Typical Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute communication plans and media content for key initiatives, issues and campaigns that support QATSICPP’s strategic plan and that can be delivered across all media and communication platforms.
  • Identify, monitor and respond to emerging issues and trends.
  • Provide leadership in the delivery of QATSICPP branded events.
  • Oversee the application and integration of design principles across the organization.
  • Cultivate effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead a small team who support the organisation in the delivery of high-quality project outcomes.

Desired skills, experience, and capabilities:

  • Experience working in a culturally responsive manner in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while respecting ways, values and approaches.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing integrated, targeted communication, media and design strategies that supports our sector and responds to the needs of multiple constituencies.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Specialist communications / media / public relations expertise.
  • Deep understanding of the modern media and communications landscape, including online and social media.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain solid stakeholder relationships.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • A current valid Queensland Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card) or eligible to apply.
  • Drivers Licence (preferable but not mandatory)
